The Contractor’s Friend

This part of the website deals with “The Contractor’s Friend” or TCF for short.  TCF was concieved by myself when, back in 2001, our house was flooded.  None of the contractor’s we talked to or even hired had any idea of how to go about setting everything up.  These were small contractors who dealt mainly with pen and paper.  They do not have any sort of recourse to a computer program except those really bad discount programs you can buy which do not meet any of the needs of these people.  They don’t keep track of employees.  They don’t keep track of projects.  They don’t keep track of materials, phone numbers, clients, building layouts, or anything else.  So what you wind up with - is a mess.  TCF is being built to address these problems.  To make it so all of this is kept, in a database, so you can call it up any time you wish.  It also provides a method for your customers to log in and to look at what it is you are saying you’d like to charge them so they can approve or disapprove of what it is you are going to do.  Further, all contracts can be created in the program and kept in the program and modified in the program.  So as you go along you can make things better and better for you and your company.  Last, but not least, all of this paperwork doesn’t have to clutter up your desk.  It can stay in the computer until you and your customer is ready to go forwards with the contract.  Then both you and your customer can print out the appropriate paperwork and both of you can keep track of what is going on at the work site.  “BOTH OF US?” you say?  Yes.  That is one of the problems with how things are being done presently.  Usually either the customer knows exactly what is going on and starts to boss you and your crew around or only you know what is going on and the customer is left in the dark to wonder what is going on.  Doing it our way allows both you, your crew, and your customer know exactly what is going to happen.  Further both you, your crew, and your customer are given check lists so everyone can stay on the same page.  As things get done your crew can check it off of their list of TO-DO things, let you know it is finished, you can check it and mark it completed, and then you can talk with the customer and have them check it off also.  In this way all three parties know when the entire set of work is done.  Last, but not least, if new items are to be put onto the list - then only those new items print out.  So you don’t get duplicates of the work orders unless they are absolutely asked for by you or your customer.  There are other benefits as well.  These are just a few.  Try it out!  We think you will be please with what we have done.
